Great news for overseas Pakistanis, Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced two new schemes; Roshan Apni Car and Roshan Samaji Khidmat . With the first one, non-resident Pakistanis (NRPs) can buy cars for their families at a lower price than Pakistani residents. This scheme will also benefit the local car industry and auto-making companies.

The government, in collaboration with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), has launched the ‘ Roshan Apni Car ’ scheme for non-resident Pakistanis (NRPs) to purchase cars for their families with these benefits:
NRPs can remotely open a Roshan Digital Account (RDA) and apply for car financing through banks in Pakistan. The banks will charge them with lower interest rates, and the car companies will prioritize the delivery of their cars.
The Roshan Digital Account is an initiative by the State Bank of Pakistan to serve the banking needs of overseas Pakistanis.
According to SBP, nine million Pakistanis are currently residing abroad, and around 0.12m have opened RDAs in the last eight months. With more and more potential families joining the RDA club and using the Roshan Apni Car scheme, the local car market may attract $200-300 million during the next two years.
As per an auto industry analyst, overseas Pakistanis have the potential to buy 10,000-13,000 cars per year and increase the annual car demand in Pakistan by 5-7%. If this happens, the PM’s plan will come together, and this new scheme will be beneficial for overseas Pakistanis as well as their home country.
Car manufacturing companies in Pakistan have appreciated this new scheme and committed to prioritize car deliveries of RDA holders.
We have all heard PM Imran Khan referring to overseas Pakistanis as the country’s “biggest asset” and vowing to make policies that benefit them. Roshan Apni Car scheme is certainly the government’s initiative in that direction.
